16 Months and Lookin' Fine!

Owen had his 16 month check up today. We were a little late, I guess we were supposed to be in at 15 months, but that visit fell right on my trip to Florida, so I had to reschedule and this was the soonest I could get in!

Here are some stats:

Weight: 20 lbs, 1/2 oz
Height: 30 3/4 inches

He has gained ALMOST two lbs since his 12 month check up and has grown two whole inches! However...(and we were not surprised about this) Owen continues to be itsy bitsy....he's in less than the 5th percentile for weight....and he is in the 25th percentile for height. Our Pediatrician says he's not worried---his weight and height are relatively proportionate and Owen is clearly healthy and thriving! Yeah!
Other funny things he told us (well, I thought they were funny) were: 1.) we should start potty training anytime (is he serious?! Owen is barely talking! How am I supposed to teach him to potty in the potty when he can't even communicate with me completely!?) 2.) Based upon his assesment of Owen's toddlerhood behavior today, we probably shouldn't have any more kids because He is so good/easy/well behaved! Funny that our PEDIATRICIAN is telling us that! Because I don't have nightmares every day about what a terror our second child will surely be...and now our own PEDIATRICIAN is actually telling us to "Stop while we are ahead"! :-) Too funny. But, Owen really IS good. He laid down and held perfectly still while Dr. Skafish looked in his ears and nose and sat quietly on my lap while he got his shots! (ok, he cried after he realized what was happening, but still...he was pretty easy about it all!)
So...a good visit. Owen is doing great. We already knew this, but Dr. Skafish confirmed that we weren't lunatic parents...our child is in fact fabulous and probably a genius. :-) (ok, he didn't say that...but WE knew he was thinking it!)

In other news...Josh's soccer team is ON FIRE! Go Southport! I'll let him blog about it later, but his team is now 4-0 with their latest victory being a 3-2 win over PIKE HIGHSCHOOL! The first win over Pike in SCHOOL HISTORY! This is exciting times people! Please come catch a game....you'll be glad you did because this is GOOD SOCCER! Tonight they face one of their rivals, Perry Meridian Highschool. We are anticipating another win! Go Cardinals! (ok, is that enough coaches wife spirit for you!? I really AM excited!) :-)

Thats about it for now...we'll catch up with you later. Have a great weekend!

How fun that I ran into you at the doctor's office today. :) Dr. Skafish is a funny guy. In the hospital when he was checking Alice out, he was telling us all about how he is going to invent baby clothes that are easy to get open and closed. He went on and on about the velcro he would use and how it would be designed, etc. He told us at Clark's last appointment to start potty training too. Clark could actually do it if he wanted to, but he unfortunately does not. Two in diapers = loads of fun! Anyway, glad you had a good appointment. :)
